A person was injured Thursday at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis , Maryland , while security teams were clearing a building after reports of suspicious activity, the US Navy said.
The Naval Support Activity Annapolis said in a statement that Navy security officers and local law enforcement responded to the campus shortly after 5pm.
“There is no active shooter threat, however, one person was injured while Naval Security Forces were clearing a building,” the statement said.
The injured person was flown by medevac to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. It is not yet clear if the individual was a midshipman or what kind of injuries they had.
Earlier, the Naval Academy said it was on lockdown “out of an abundance of caution” as law enforcement responded to “reports of threats.”
Maryland governor Wes Moore’s office said earlier that there was “currently no credible threat to the Naval Academy.”
