Watch: PM Modi launches three Vande Bharat Express trains, yellow line of Bengaluru Metro; key details

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took a tour on the new Vande Bharat Express after flagging off three trains at KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru.

He also spent the time talking and laughing with schoolchildren on board. Visuals of PM Modi travelling from the newly launched Vande Bharat Express and chit-chatting with students have gone viral.

PM Modi flagged off three Vande Bharat trains — Bengaluru–Belagavi, Amritsar–Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune — from KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru.


Officials said that these trains will enhance regional connectivity and reduce travel time. The trains aim to provide a "world-class" travel experience to the passengers.


Karnataka governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, chief minister Siddaramaiah, Union minister for railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, among others, also marked their presence.

People greeted PM Modi with "Modi, Modi" slogans when he arrived in Bengaluru. He also responded large numbers of people gathered there by waving at them from inside his car.

PM Modi inaugurates Yellow line of Bangalore Metro

The PM also inaugurated Bangalore metro's Yellow line that is stretched from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra. It is a part of the Metro Phase-2 project that costs around Rs 7,160 crore and has a route length of over 19 km with 16 stations. With its opening, the city's operational metro network expands to 96 km, benefiting over eight lakh commuters in Bengaluru's southern districts.


PM to lay foundation stone of Bangalore Metro Phase 3 project

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Bangalore Metro Phase-3 , worth Rs 15,610 crore, covering more than 44 km and 31 elevated stations. Once complete, it will serve a wide range of neighbourhoods and address the city's growing transport demands.

PM Modi reached Bengaluru on Sunday morning, where he was received by Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah .
