PUDUCHERRY : In view of heavy rain forecast, the Puducherry government on Tuesday said all schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal regions will remain closed on Wednesday.
All the privately managed institutions and government aided schools would also be closed tomorrow, said Home Minister A Namassivayam.
Schools and colleges in the two regions were closed on Tuesday also in view of the heavy rains .
Puducherry Lt Governor K Kailashnathan reviewed government measures in response to the current rain in the Union Territory. Officials from the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management briefed him on the preparations for relief and rehabilitation in Puducherry and Karaikal regions.
Collector A Kulothungan announced that control rooms and relief camps have been set up in both regions. He stated, “The Lt Governor was apprised of the preparedness of the 62 teams of personnel of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) who reached here on Monday from Arokonam.” The government has prepared arrangements to address any emergencies.
