CHANDIGARH: By swearing in Arti Singh Rao and Shruti Choudhry , BJP high command has tried to placate Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh and adjust former chief minister Bansi Lal 's family. However, in the process, it ended up ignoring many favourites for cabinet berth - Savitri Jindal , Shakti Rana Sharma, and more.

Shruti Choudhry is the granddaughter of Bansi Lal and daughter of Rajya Sabha MP Kiran Choudhry , while Rao is the daughter Rao Inderjit, the Union minister of planning and statistics & programme implementation.

Rao Inderjit has been, for long, trying to induct Arti into politics. Choudhry had lost the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls, and had been denied Congress ticket in this year's LS contest. Later, she and her mother switched to BJP.

The party, however, left out Hisar City MLA Savitri Jindal, mother of BJP Lok Sabha MP from Kurukshetram Naveen Jindal. Savitri was the first independent MLA to extend support to BJP. Party MLA from Kalka and former minister Venod Sharma's wife Shakti Rana Sharm, has also been left out. She could have been the Brahmin face in the cabinet. Her son Kartikeya Sharma is a Rajya Sabha MP.

Others who BJP left out include remaining two independents - Devender Kadyan from Ganaur & Rajesh Joon from Bahadurgarh.

From the GT Road belt, BJP ignored former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar confidants Jagmohan Anand from Karnal and Parmod Vij from Panipat City.

The party also overlooked jailer-turned-politician Suneel Sangwan, who won his debut election from Dadri constituency. Son of a former minister, Sangwan too was being considered a favourite for the cabinet.
