NEW DELHI: The Indian Armed Forces conducted precision military strikes on multiple terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and PoK on Wednesday under ' Operation Sindoor ', the ministry of defence announced.
The coordinated tri-service operation targeted nine locations - four in Pakistan (including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot) and five in PoK. The strikes aimed to eliminate Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leaders responsible for planning and executing terrorist attacks in India, including the deadly Pahalgam attack.
Multiple videos circulating on social media captured the operation's impact. Footage showed massive explosions with orange fireballs and thick smoke clouds, while other videos depicted civilians gathering on streets with visible explosions in the distance. A dashboard camera also recorded secondary explosions near police checkpoints.
Sources told ANI that the operation involved careful mobilization of troops and assets across all three service branches - Army, Navy, and Air Force - using special precision munitions to strike terrorist infrastructure from where attacks against India were being planned and directed.
"Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature," the Ministry of Defence stated, emphasizing that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted, demonstrating India's strategic restraint in target selection and execution.
