NEW DELHI: Mumbai police on Tuesday arrested a 24- year-old man for sending threat messages to Bollywood actor Salman Khan , according to news agency PTI. This arrest follows a series of threatening messages received by the actor in recent weeks.
Last Thursday, Bollywood star Salman Khan received a death threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang , delivered via a message sent to the Mumbai Traffic Control Room in Worli. The message referenced the songwriter of "Main Sikandar Houn" and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore from Khan, allegedly on behalf of the gang.
Previously, on October 24, Mumbai Police had apprehended a man in Jamshedpur for issuing threats to Salman Khan in Lawrence Bishnoi's name. Following this series of threats and an earlier shooting incident in April, Khan’s security was elevated to Y+ level.
The shooting occurred on April 14 outside Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra, Mumbai. Subsequent investigations linked the incident to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, prompting police to apply the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) to those involved.
Law enforcement agencies also revealed that Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, played a key role by encouraging the attackers. Anmol reportedly delivered weapons to the shooters in Panvel on March 15, 2024, and provided them with details about the target, directing them to carry out the attack at Khan's residence.
