This represents an increase of 15.8% for Essential, 22.6% for Extra, and 18.4% for Premium.

What Sony has to say about the price hike

Sony stated in an email to subscribers that the price adjustment will allow the company to “continue bringing high-quality games and benefits” to PlayStation Plus. However, many gamers have expressed frustration, noting that no new perks have been introduced to justify the higher costs.

Gamer reactions on Sony PlayStation Plus price hike

The price hike follows recent increases in PlayStation 5 console prices across Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and the UK. Sony’s decision aligns with broader industry trends, where companies are raising subscription costs amid economic challenges and rising operational expenses.

Gamers have taken to social media platforms like Reddit and X to voice their concerns, with many questioning whether PlayStation Plus still offers sufficient value compared to competing services like Xbox Game Pass.
