Ola group’s artificial intelligence (AI) firm Krutrim is reportedly seeing a major leadership change. According to a report by Economic Times, business head of Krutrim AI - Ravi Jain has resigned from the unicorn artificial intelligence startup founded by Ola chief Bhavish Aggarwal . The AI venture was launched in April 2023.
Jain joined Ola in 2021 as a business head of Ola Cars. He was promoted to head of strategy at Ola Electric in December 2022. He became the business head at Krutrim in May 2023 when Aggarwal put together a team for this new venture.
Krutrim became a unicorn in January 2024
Earlier this year in January, Krutrim became India’s first AI startup to become a unicorn that is valued USD1 billion or more. It then raised USD50 million from Z47, previously known as Matrix Partners, the earliest backer of Aggarwal’s other ventures Ola Cabs and Ola Electric.
This marks the first significant departure from Aggarwal’s year-old AI venture. The company recently announced its plans to launch new products and services, including AI chips. In August this year, Aggarwal announced tolaunch its first AI Chip Bodhi 1 by 2026,
and Bodhi 2 two years later. The company also offers Krutrim Cloud , which offers GPU-as-a-service for developers and startups.
Other senior leadership changes at Aggarwal-led Ola
Reportedly, Ola Chief people officer and chief marketing officer are on long leave while senior functionaries in service and battery cell divisons have quit. As per the ET report, the company’s secretary also quit recently.
