West Indies Cricket Board has appointed 33-year-old Roston Chase as the new Test captain of the men's team, replacing Kraigg Brathwaite who resigned in March. Chase, who last played a Test more than two years ago and has featured in 49 Tests, will lead the team in their upcoming series against Australia, which marks the beginning of the new World Test Championship cycle.
Jomel Warrican has been named as the vice-captain of the Test side. The selection process involved a comprehensive framework, with Cricket West Indies (CWI) considering multiple candidates including John Campbell, Tevin Imlach, Joshua Da Silva, and Justin Greaves for leadership roles.

Shai Hope, who currently leads the ODI and T20I teams, declined to be considered for the Test captaincy to focus on his existing leadership responsibilities.
The selection process was conducted by an interview panel comprising head coach Daren Sammy, Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe, and Enoch Lewis, Chairman of the Cricket Strategy and Officiating Committee.
"This selection process is one of the most comprehensive and forward-thinking we have undertaken," said CWI President Dr. Kishore Shallow. "I am deeply impressed by the professionalism, objectivity, and strategic thinking that shaped the final decision. It sets a new benchmark for leadership appointments in West Indies cricket."
Head coach Daren Sammy expressed his support for the appointment stating: "I fully endorse this appointment. Our new captain has earned the respect of his peers, understands the responsibility that comes with the role, and has shown the leadership qualities we need to take this team forward. I urge fans across the region to rally behind him, we're building something special."
Chase brings significant experience to the role with 2265 Test runs at an average of 26.33, including five centuries. His bowling credentials include 85 Test wickets, with his best performance of 8 for 60 coming against England in Bridgetown 2019.
