Lewis Hamilton reveals his first karting helmet was stolen, not part of his iconic 400-helmet collection

The Formula 1 drivers are making the most of the break they have between the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix that wrapped up on April 20 and the next race in May, the Miami Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton recently flew to London to inaugurate a trading card shop. In an interaction with fans at the store, he went on to reveal that his helmet from his karting days is not a part of his personal collection since it was stolen and was never found again.

He wore a sleeveless black jacket and matching trousers for the outing. As he participated in a fan interaction, the seven-time world champion revealed having 105 race win trophies in his collection and 400 helmets from his races ever since his initial days in car racing.

According to Talksport.com, the 40-year-old F1 Ferrari driver went on to reveal how the helmet from his karting days was stolen from his birthplace, Stevenage, in 2001 and was never found. He was 16 at the time and had moved from karting to car racing. As a fan joked that the person at the store who owns the $900k Hamilton card must have taken the helmet, Hamilton went on to ask him, "If you have the helmet... you might have that helmet?" but the man replied, "I can't tell you!"

Lewis Hamilton at FerrariLewis Hamilton will now be returning to the race scene in Florida where the Miami Grand Prix is scheduled from May 2–4. Hamilton is seventh in the Formula 1 Driver Standings this season with 31 points. He has been struggling with his Ferrari since day one, except the F1 Sprint in Shanghai which he won.

In the Sunday races, he is still waiting for a podium spot this season. While he came 10th in the season opener in Australia, he was disqualified in the second race in Shanghai. His best position is 5th at the Bahrain Grand Prix followed by position seven twice, in Japan and Saudi Arabia.
