NEW DELHI: As the world celebrates Mother’s Day on Sunday, ICC Chairman Jay Shah and several cricketers took to their official social media accounts to express their gratitude and respect for their mothers.
Jay Shah shared on social media: “For all the mothers around the world celebrating #MothersDay2025, I want to say thank you for everything you do, and I pay my respects to you on this day. To my mother, I am very grateful for your support and love through all the years.”

Afghanistan’s spin maestro Rashid Khan also paid tribute, posting on Instagram.
“I love you and I miss you, mom, and though you’ve passed away, you’ll never be forgotten, for I think of you each day. I miss your voice, I miss talking to you for hours and hours. Mother’s Day,” Rashid wrote.
Rashid became the first Afghan to play in the IPL with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the opening match of 2017, later joined Gujarat Titans in 2022—helping them clinch the title in their debut season.
In IPL 2023, he finished second in the wicket tally with 27 scalps, and so far this season has taken eight wickets in 11 matches at an average of 46.63.
Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan also took to Instagram, writing: “I was in your lap when I was a baby, I’m still in your lap when I have a baby myself. Happy Mother’s Day Meri maa.”
Pathan represented India in 173 internationals, scoring 2,821 runs with 11 fifties and one century, and took 301 wickets at an average of 29.85 across formats.
