Serving as one such weight loss motivation, Simran Poonia, a health and beauty influencer, transformed her life after a pivotal moment in Bali during 2020 when she struggled to climb stairs. Weighing 130 kg at her heaviest, she embarked on a weight loss journey by giving up sugar, quitting smoking, and incorporating daily walks, eventually gaining widespread support on social media for her dedication to a healthier lifestyle.
From dealing with body image concerns to fitness
Poonia's struggle with body image began in childhood, where she faced mockery and stares due to her weight. Her self-esteem suffered further when she developed a skin infection and nicotine addiction, leading her to isolate herself from social situations and school activities.
The turning point
The turning point came during her Bali trip in 2020. The difficulty in climbing stairs served as a wake-up call, prompting her to make significant lifestyle changes. She began walking with her grandfather, transforming exercise into a form of self-care rather than punishment.
Walking her steps toned the body
Her journey started with modest goals. Initially, she could only walk 700 meters before exhaustion set in, but she persevered and gradually increased her distance to a kilometer. Cardio became her primary form of exercise, though she approached it with patience rather than rushing into intense workouts.
