Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh shared a 13-year marriage before parting ways on less-than-friendly terms. Despite the split, the two remain forever linked as proud parents of Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, both carving their own paths in the spotlight.
In a 2005 interview with The Telegraph, Saif revealed that he owed Amrita Rs 5 crore after their divorce, and had already paid her half of the amount. He also mentioned paying Rs 1 lakh per month for his son until he turned 18. Saif explained that, unlike Shah Rukh Khan, he didn’t have large sums of money, and whatever he earned from ads, films, and shows was being used for his children. He added that their bungalow was for Amrita and the kids, along with relatives who stayed with them after he left.
In the same interview, Saif also opened up about the emotional toll after his divorce. He shared that he was frequently reminded of his shortcomings as a husband and father, and during that period, he wasn’t allowed to see his children, Sara and Ibrahim. Saif expressed how much he missed them, revealing that he kept a photo of Ibrahim in his wallet, which made him emotional every time he looked at it, and that he constantly longed for Sara.
The Pataudi Khan also shared that he often felt "worthless" during this challenging period, facing constant criticism and harsh treatment. He described enduring frequent insults, taunts, and even abuses directed at him, as well as his mother and sister. This emotional strain added to the difficulties he faced after his separation.
