Actor Priyansh Jora recently surprised fans by sharing a heartwarming video of his snowy proposal to former actress-turned-sports anchor Rishma Rochlani in the picturesque backdrop of Gulmarg. The proposal, which was a complete surprise for Rishma, was planned down to the last detail by Priyansh while she was away in Amritsar.
Rishma recalls, “He planned everything in just three days while I was away and even flew both our parents to Gulmarg to witness the proposal. It was truly magical.”
But the fairytale moment came with a bit of drama. Priyansh had long known Rishma dreamed of being proposed to amidst snow. When he finally decided to pop the question in March, he went to great lengths to keep it a surprise. Rishma recalls, “I was in Amritsar for a wedding when he surprised me by showing up there. He convinced me to go skiing in Gulmarg, saying it was probably the last snowfall of the season. I initially refused — I was tired of travelling and just wanted to head home — but he insisted. On our way from Srinagar to Gulmarg, I suddenly asked, ‘Wait, are you going to propose to me? Did you bring a ring?’ And he acted so convincingly clueless, saying, ‘Oh my God, I can't believe I didn’t think of that!’ I totally believed him. The drama really worked.”
The proposal took place on March 1, and the couple celebrated their official engagement in Mumbai on May 14.
Their love story, fitting for the silver screen, actually began long before they knew it. The two officially met at a mutual friend’s Diwali party last year, but destiny had already crossed their paths earlier. Rishma shares, “A couple of years ago, I was having lunch with a friend at a café in Versova when an elderly woman came up to me and said, ‘ Beta, main aapko kab se dekh rahi hoon, aap mujhe bade pyaare lage.’ We chatted for a bit before her son came over to escort her out. She introduced me to him, but I barely glanced at him — the whole encounter felt so random and strange.”
At the Diwali party years later, Priyansh kept insisting that he had seen Rishma somewhere before. “I told him to come talk to me once he remembered,” she laughs, adding, “Four hours later, he came back and recalled the café meeting; it was his mother who had approached me. That was the beginning of everything.”
Soon after, Priyansh flew to Abu Dhabi, where Rishma was working at the time, to ask her out — and the couple began dating.
