Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Friday staged a ‘vote chor, gaddi chhod' rally at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan here, accusing the ruling BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) of eroding the sanctity of the electoral process, reports Joken Ete.
Addressing party workers, APCC president Bosiram Siram alleged that the ruling party misused power and institutions during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and ‘secured around 240 seats through fraudulent practices'. He said the issue came to light only because it was consistently raised by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
He accused the ECI of failing in its duty to act impartially and criticised chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's recent briefing as ‘futile' and ‘akin to a BJP spokesperson's remarks rather than those of an independent authority'.
