Panaji: Goa police on Monday arrested Imad Khan, a resident of UP, who had escaped police custody. He was arrested in connection with an alleged extortion case.
SP Akshat Kaushal said that acting in close coordination with Delhi police, a team from Mapusa police station arrested a prime accused in an extortion case. “Earlier, this accused, while being brought from New Delhi to Goa, escaped police custody by pushing Goa police and CISF staff at the Mumbai airport. The accused was evading arrest and was constantly shifting his residence and location,” Kaushal said.
“Mapusa police station successfully traced and arrested Khan with the support of the crime branch of Delhi police. During an extensive investigation, the Mapusa police team gathered crucial intelligence on the accused. Realising the accused’s movements extended beyond Goa, the team promptly coordinated with the cyber cell of the Delhi crime branch, sharing key details,” Kaushal said.
“Acting on the inputs provided by Mapusa police, the cyber cell conducted rigorous technical analysis and successfully traced Khan,” Kaushal said.
