Kolhapur: Kolhapur collector Amol Yedge issued an order to close the main district road from Tamgaon to Ujlaiwadi, adjacent to Kolhapur airport, from Saturday onwards. The decision comes againt the backdrop of the continuing India-Pakistan flare-up.
Yedge said, "Traffic on the Nerli-Tamgaon road could be very dangerous for airport security. Since it is adjacent to the airport runway, the road has been closed immediately. Directional signs and information should be put up at appropriate places to inform people."
The distance from Tamgaon to Ujlaiwadi airport road to Shahu Naka is approximately 5 km. If this road is shut, the alternative route from Tamgaon to Nerli to Gokul Shirgaon MIDC NH 4 to Shahu Naka will cover 7 km.
