Pune: The beheaded body of an earth moving machine operator from Bhosari was found in a quarry in Moshi on Wednesday evening. The 45-years-old deceased was missing since March 29.
The wife and other relatives of the victim, Siddharam Dhale, ascertained his identity with the help of the clothes on the body.
The assailants chopped off his wrists and left leg at the ankle. "We are yet to recover Dhale's head and other chopped parts," senior inspector Bapu Dhere of the Dighi police said.
Dhere said some passersby on Wednesday noticed the beheaded body in the quarry in Moshi.
"After reaching the spot, the police team found a cellphone near the body. We checked the missing person's complaints registered with other police stations. We found one registered with the Bhosari police on March 31 with identical description of a man," Dhere said.
The officer further said, "The victim's wife said her husband left home on March 29 for work and did not return. After waiting for two days, she lodged a complaint with the Bhosari police."
"She also claimed that her husband used to consume liquor, but did not have any rivalry with any person," he added.
"Our investigations are on," Dhere said.
