New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who is currently lodged in the Tihar jail and said that that this case will become a precedent. PM Modi said that the media should show full perspective to people, how people of Delhi are suffering, and what the courts have said about the case.

Without mincing the words, PM Modi said that he was optimistic that this one case will not become a precedent and that the other politicians would "not go to this extent" and would follow strong moral values.

"I am optimistic that this (sitting CM being in jail) will not become a precedent. I feel other politicians won't be lacking in morals and will not go to this extent," PM Modi said while speaking to TOI.

Arvind Kejriwal is the first sitting chief minister to be arrested by a law enforcement agency. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested the AAP founder in the Delhi excise policy case on March 21. Later, he was moved to Tihar Jail.

Further, PM Modi also lashed out at Congress and said the party has changed the Constitution "the maximum number of times" and such allegations coming from them are "ironic".

"Before asking such a question, you should analyse my track record. You should study my work and actions right from the time I became CM and see if you find any such thing done by me. It is unfair to me if someone makes an allegation and you take that allegation on face value and start asking me questions on it," he said.

Meanwhile, jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal and AAP leader Atishi went to Tihar Jail on Monday to meet the Delhi CM. This comes after Tihar jail officials had earlier denied permission for Sunita to meet the AAP chief, the party alleged. However, on Monday, the party stated that Sunita was granted permission to meet him.

In a post on X in Hindi, the party said, "At the behest of the Modi government, the Tihar jail administration cancelled Sunita Kejriwal's meeting with her husband Arvind Kejriwal. The Modi government is crossing all limits of inhumanity.

Following their meeting with the AAP leader, Delhi Minister Atishi said, “He will be out of jail soon. He will definitely fulfil the promise of giving Rs 1,000 per month to the women of Delhi.”
