CEC Rajiv Kumar's Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing In Uttarakhand Due To Bad Weather

A helicopter carrying Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar made an emergency landing in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district Wednesday. The chopper was also carrying Uttarakhand's additional Chief Election Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande. Sources said the emergency landing was made due to bad weather.News agency ANI, quoting Uttarakhand Government, said that all passengers were safe.The Election Commission on Tuesday announced bypolls for 47 other Assembly seats and the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday. The polls will be held on November 13. The CEC also announced the bypoll for Kedarnath Assembly seat in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. The seat, in Rudraprayag district, is currently held by the BJP. It became vacant in July after the death of MLA Shaila Rawat. Kedarnath Assembly seat and Nanded Lok Sabha seat will vote on for November 20.Election dates for Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assemblies were also announced apart from the bypolls. Maharashtra will vote in one phase on November 20, while Jharkhand will vote in two phases on November 13 and 20.The vote counting will be held on November 23.
