Supermarket giant Sainsbury's has announced a huge change to Nectar card prices set to take effect from this Friday (July 25).
The retailer runs its Nectar scheme alongside several other retailers like Argos (which it also owns) and eBay, offering points on every shop which can be built up and turned into vouchers to spend in-store or online, either with your Nectar card or via the app.
Nectar also offers tailored discounts and vouchers to customers based on their shopping, known as 'Your Nectar Prices', which used to be called 'My Nectar Prices'. But Sainsbury's has announced a major change to how this works, and from Friday, you will need to actively unlock Your Nectar Prices in its app each week before you head to the supermarket.
Sainsbury's emailed Nectar customers and said: "As you're an active Nectar Sainsbury's shopper we're informing you of changes to the way you access Your Nectar Prices.
"For your personalised discounts, which will be valid from 25th July 2025, this means:
• You'll need to ensure you're using version 11.8 of the Nectar app or later.
• You'll need to view and unlock Your Nectar Prices in the Nectar app each week before you shop. Your Nectar Prices will refresh every Friday, and you'll need to unlock them each week.
• If you'd like a regular reminder to unlock Your Nectar Prices when they refresh each week, please enable in-app push notifications in your Nectar app.
• From 25th July, you'll be able to use Your Nectar Prices at supermarket checkouts in any store. This is in addition to Smartshop and Sainsburys.co.uk."
But, Sainsbury's adds that Your Nectar Prices will not be available at concessions, on tobacco kiosks, petrol stations, Argos, Habitat or Tu Clothing.
Sainsbury's says the rollout will give customers a new way to unlock savings on the products they buy most. It is predicted that the new till rollout could save shoppers as much as £150 per year, in addition to savings already available through Nectar Prices.
Mark Given, chief marketing, data and sustainability officer at Sainsbury's, said: "Over the past few years, we've made significant strides with Nectar, with Nectar Prices being a big part of that success, bringing great value to millions of customers.
"But what really sets us apart is that we're leading the way by making loyalty personal. Shoppers want to feel recognised and rewarded and while Nectar Prices are for everyone, we know our customers love an offer that is made just for them.
"That's exactly what Your Nectar Prices delivers - it's about giving customers those extra savings on the products they love and buy most.
"Every week over a million customers are making the most of their personalised discounts and, by rolling this out to our checkouts, we're opening the door for millions more to grab fantastic offers on the items they already purchase and maybe even discover some new favourites."
