Richard E Grant has been a hugely successful actor - but he's not proud of every project he's put his name to.
The Academy Award nominated fave has revealed that, while he's been in horror films including Bram Stoker's Dracula, the truly horrifying project for him was the 1991 project Hudson Hawk. The movie starred Bruce Willis as a cat burglar who, soon after his release from jail, was persuaded to rob Leonardo da Vinci artworks as part of a "world domination" plot. Co-written by Bruce himself, it marked his first - and only - attempt at screenwriting. Unfortunately, it was poorly received, as Richard - who played the character Darwin Mayflower - acknowledged.
He revealed that he'd gone from being so desperately embarrassed by the attempt that he didn't want to receive payment for it to feeling that he ought to be compensated for the "suffering". Explaining all in a interview, he cringed: "I was involved in an unfortunate film called Hudson Hawk that strayed so far from the original concept of the script that we knew that we were on a turkey to end all turkeys,"
He continued: "That was painful, because we all began with such hope and enthusiasm. When something is an unmistakable dodo and you're on board, you feel shame.
"'Please take my salary back!' Then your brain recalibrates. 'Actually, I deserve every dime I've been paid for the suffering.'"
Meanwhile, Richard - a Star Wars fave - has returned with new satirical comedy series The Franchise, in which he plays Peter.
He confessed that his character might be fictionalised for laughs, but that he's encountered real life people every bit as bad.
"I play an incredibly narcissistic, appallingly bad-mannered, politically incorrect actor," he exclaimed.
"I have encountered some of those people over the past four decades of being in showbusiness."
The series, which began this month, has been compared to Succession, while it highlights events surrounding the chaotic creation of a superhero movie.
Viewers will get the opportunity to see 67-year-old Richard don a superhero costume himself, which he said was a cinch at his age.
