Banned star reportedly had his Blues contract 'tweaked'. The winger after he returned an 'adverse finding' from a urine test in December last year.
Mudryk has not played for the side since then. However, a Football Association document has shown that the Ukrainian's contract was 'updated' in the time between February 2, 2024, and February 3, 2025. The governing body publishes all transactions completed by clubs, including transfers and any contractual changes. New deals for Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Tyrique George were all common knowledge. However, a change to Mudryk's contract raised eyebrows given his current situation.
According to the Daily Mail, the update to the 24-year-old's deal was an 'administrative tweak' and is not considered to be anything major. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca's latest update on Mudryk in February was to confirm that he was unsure when the £88million signing will return.
"No. No, I don't think so," the Italian said when asked if there was an update.
Mudryk, who maintains his innocence, was notified of a positive test sample in December. The FA provisionally suspended him, although he has not been charged. The former Shakhtar Donetsk forward was anticipating a B Sample earlier this year but that has not been revealed.
"I can confirm that I have been notified that a sample I provided to the FA contained a banned substance," Mudryk said in December.
"This has come as a complete shock as I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, and I am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened. I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon. I cannot say any more now due to the confidentiality of the process, but I will as soon as I can."
Mudryk had scored three goals in 15 appearances this season before his suspension. His trio of strikes had all come in the early parts of Chelsea's Conference League campaign.
The Blues have played the last four months without Mudryk. Maresca has preferred Jadon Sancho on the left of the attack, with Noni Madueke or Pedro Neto on the right. Madueke has been out since February with a hamstring injury.
