Mike Tyson has previously admitted to training under the influence of magic mushrooms and plans to take psychedelic drugs before his fight with . The formidable 58-year-old has had an illustrious boxing career, defeating a string of top contenders throughout the 80s and 90s to secure the WBC and WBA heavyweight titles twice, as well as the IBF title.

'Iron' Mike defeated renowned professionals such as Frank Bruno, Michael Spinks, Bruce Seldon and Lou Savarese in his prime, ending his career in 2005 as a heavyweight legend with a record of 50-6-2(NC). Despite not having fought professionally since his 2005 defeat to Kevin McBride, the boxing icon is set to make a comeback later this month against YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul in a lucrative bout streamed live on Netflix.

The 'Problem Child' has built a commendable 10-1 record since turning professional just four years ago, defeating numerous former stars including Ben Askren, Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley and Mike Perry. He is now aiming to defeat Tyson when they face off at the ATandT Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on November 15.

, who is 31 years older than Paul, shocked his opponent's brother, Logan Paul, earlier this year when he confessed that he trains while on 'magic mushrooms'. Tyson has been candid about his use of psychedelic drugs in the past and has stated twice that he will consume mushrooms and a 5-MeO-DMT - a drug also known as 'The Toad', reports .

During an episode of the Impaulsive podcast in August, Logan was taken aback when Tyson detailed his use of psychedelics. Amid the chat which initially revolved around marijuana, Tyson revealed a penchant for magic mushrooms and even brought out a bag brimming with spores.

Co-host Mike Maljak inquired: "Are you going to take these shrooms today?" before Tyson candidly responded: "I have to take them when I train. I always train on my mushrooms." The conversation took an unexpected turn as a bewildered Paul questioned: "What? Why?" to which Tyson confided: "Because I feel beautiful. They take me to heaven baby."

The dialogue pushed further when Logan, puzzled, probed whether Tyson would be influenced by magic mushrooms during his upcoming fight with Paul's younger brother. Tyson admitted: "If I'm not on mushrooms I'll be on..." before Maljak humorously joked: "PCP?"

Tyson chuckled at the quip: "That's a good one too," before elaborating: "Residue of mushrooms. I won't be on mushrooms but I'll be on the residue of mushrooms." As both pugilists gear up for their highly anticipated fight, they will undergo strict drug testing protocols.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation clarified to World Boxing News: "Contestants who fight in Texas are subject to random drug testing. Combatants over the age of 36 are also required to pass an EKG and an EEG." Tyson has quit smoking cannabis as he gears up for his first fight since his exhibition match with Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

"I'm living my life disciplined now, so I'm fight disciplined now. In probably six weeks, I haven't gotten high or had sex," Tyson revealed to Forbes before the fight was rescheduled. He added: "It's just discipline, it's doing what you hate to do but doing it like I love it. I hate not being able to not to smoke but I'm doing it like I love it. I hate not being able to sleep with my life but I'm doing it like I love it, because I want it I won't do it."

Tyson also confessed to FOX News: "I don't think I am going to smoke for this fight. I think I am going to be very irritable and nasty. Normally I do, but for this particular fight I think I'm going to go pretty raw and naked."

Despite being 31 years Paul's senior, Tyson has appeared incredibly strong and sharp in training footage, leading some fans to fear for the YouTuber - with some advising him that it's not too late to pull out of the fight.
