The is reportedly preparing for potential chaos - and it's got nothing to do with couture. According to reports, Anna Wintour has ordered heightened security at the Met over fears that could gatecrash the glitzy affair, despite not being invited. A Met Gala insider spilled to : "Anna is not messing around. There's a full protocol in place if Kanye is spotted anywhere near the carpet."
The drastic move comes after the controversial rapper posted a disturbing sketch online of a KKK-inspired ensemble he claimed he'd wear to the event. The image, shared on his X account - formerly known as Twitter - showed a bare-chested figure wearing boots, gloves and a pointed hood eerily reminiscent of Ku Klux Klan attire.
West captioned the drawing "MET BALL 2025," sparking widespread outrage. Fans were quick to slam the sketch, drawing comparisons to a similarly provocative outfit West wore during an interview with DJ Akademiks.
The backlash was instant, reportedly prompting Met Gala organisers to fear the rapper might attempt to pull a dramatic stunt on the night. One high-level fashion security expert warned the outlet: "It's not just about the outfit - it's about the chaos he brings. After what happened at the Grammys, no one's taking chances."
Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Anna Wintour and the Met Gala. Adding to the drama is the confirmed attendance of West's ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, who insiders say is already anxious about a possible run-in. A source close to the Skims mogul revealed to RadarOnline: "Kim is focused on her look and her brand. The last thing she wants is Kanye pulling a stunt and hijacking the night."
While West has not been officially banned, his name is reportedly causing serious headaches behind the scenes. Sources suggest Wintour has demanded a detailed action plan in the event the rapper appears anywhere near the red carpet.
An insider added: "If he shows up, there's a plan. Anna has made it clear - no drama on her carpet." The Met Gala, famously co-chaired each year by Wintour, is known for its ultra-exclusive guest list and over-the-top fashion moments.
Held annually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the event typically welcomes around 450 guests, ranging from Hollywood royalty to political power players.
This year's theme is Superfine - Tailoring Black Style, and the 2025 bash will be co-chaired by Wintour alongside Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams.
