MAFS UK fans demand rule change as they fume 'it's so cruel' watching couple's stay

Married at First Sight UK fans are pleading with the show's creators to alter the rules as newlyweds, despite their desire to exit, are compelled to remain in the experiment.

The popular E4 programme returned for another episode on Monday night (October 14), featuring the remaining couples participating in the series' third commitment ceremony. While some couples seemed to be flourishing since their wedding, it was evident that others were nearing the end of their journey.

The couples discussed their progress and received guidance from experts Paul C. Brunson, Mel Schilling, and Charlene Douglas.

Following their frank conversation with the experts, the married pairs decided whether to continue or depart. However, if one partner chose to remain in the experiment while the other opted to leave, they would both have to stay.

Casper Todd expressed his wish to exit the experiment last night. Nevertheless, his wife, Emma Barnes, wished to continue, reports .

This was also the situation for Hannah Norburn and Stephen Nolson, who was eager to leave his wife.

Yet, due to the inflexible rules, the two husbands were obliged to try their marriage for another week. Witnessing these awkward scenes unfold, viewers at home called for a change.

Over on X, viewers expressed their dismay at the show's format, with one exasperated fan commenting: "So cruel making them stay when they want to leave."

Another was clearly irritated, saying: "I'm getting p****d off at the experts making the person who has wrote leave to stay if the other person wants to stay. LET THEM LEAVE." (sic).

Discontent was a common theme as one viewer remarked: "Why do these people write stay when you can obviously see they don't work! " An equally frustrated fourth suggested: "#MAFSUK should change the rules. If one person writes LEAVE then it's LEAVE, no1 should be FORCED to stay where they don't want to be."(sic).

In another corner, a viewer lambasted the predictability of the series: "This show is so predictable, man says I can't trust her etc then ends up staying! This is 1 big fix. If I disliked the process so much, I would have bounced regardless of the rules."(sic).

Despite viewer frustrations, all couples are set to remain on the show for another week. In a twist that stirs more drama into the mix, The Sun has let slip that Hannah is on the verge of starting a "secret affair" with Orson Nurse, 41, who finds himself trapped in a loveless marriage to his wife Richelle.

Married at First Sight airs Mondays-Thursdays at 9pm on E4.
