Britain's rubbish right now. Sir Drear Starmer and his incompetent army of ingrates deliver nowt but misery. The "opposition" is fading into grey irrelevance. Reform UK aren't near enough power to give a real sense of hope for the main parties' disaffected voters. Migration is beyond parody. Rachel Reeves, the Ringwraith of British politics, is diminishing and draining everything that suffers the misfortune of proximity to the Chancellor.
So thank Christ Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana are here to give us a laugh. God knows we need it. These ex-members of Labour's loopy Left have bravely broken free of Starmer's stultification to bring us a political party that is easily the funniest thing since the anti-Brexit centrists Change UK tried to present themselves as a refreshing alternative.
Change UK remain one of my favourite things to ever happen to British politics. From the glory days of its clunky Independent Group for Change through to their Nando's summit of unwanted midwits and their eventual decline into irrelevance as Change UK, they gave much-needed cack-handed catharsis to Brexiteers with a surreal search for relevance.
But Corbyn and Sultana might be even more ridiculous than those failures and hasbeens. These two incompetents managed to botch the launch of their own party on July 4, when Sultana publicly vowed to start a new party with Jezza after quitting Labour.
Though she seemed sure it was happening, her craggy comrade appeared blindsided, suggesting that the pair found it difficult to co-ordinate a party comprised of a whopping TWO politicians.
It was clear that they were planning a new project, but Zarah was so excited at being a socialist sidekick for everyone's favourite throwback that she'd managed to announce an initiative that wasn't officially happening, with Jezza making it clear that discussions were "ongoing".
If these two can't even co-ordinate launching themselves to the press, it's going to be a right laugh watching them announce policies to voters.
Keen Comrade Zarah provided further comedy today when messiahs of the student Left, PoliticsJOE, reported on the actual launch of this new political party.
It reported that it would go by the inspirational name Your Party in a post on X, only for Zarah to comment underneath: "It's not called Your Party!"
This is despite a website, the URL of which is yourparty.uk, inviting Britain's bolshies to build a real alternative with... Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana.
And this is on the same day that Comrade Crusty was out defending the Your Party name choice, after launching the outfit outside Islington Town Hall where he ended having a photo with a pair of newlyweds.
Long live this party. Many laughs are in store. And that's about the best conservatives can hope for right now.
