David Beckham has fielded an accusation of copying someone else's outfit at Wimbledon, having travelled across continents to be able to attend the opening day of the tournament. Sir David, sporting a cast after undergoing surgery to repair a broken wrist he suffered 22 years ago, watched two matches at Centre Court.
Carlos Alcaraz just about got through the opening match on the main show court, defeating retiring Fabio Fognini in five sets. He struggled with the nerves of playing in front of Beckham and co, who then cheered on British No. 2 Katie Boulter as she upset ninth seed Paula Badosa.
Beckham had flown from the United States, where he watched his Inter Miami exit the Club World Cup the previous evening, to SW19 to join the likes of Gareth Southgate, Eddie Redmayne, Jason Isaacs, Richard Osman and Stuart Broad amongst a host of household names.
And it was England cricket icon Broad who had an awkward moment with Beckham behind the scenes.
Having returned to the Sky Sports commentary studio during the second Test between India and England at Edgbaston on Wednesday, former England captain Nasser Hussain asked Broad how his week was and mocked him for wearing a nearly-identical suit to Beckham.
The broadcast flashed pictures of Broad and Beckham near each other in the Royal Box, wearing similar cream suits, dark blue shirts, and dark ties.
Hussain laughed and said: "You copied him, haven't you?"

Broad had a big smile on his face and fired back: "I actually think he has copied me."
The 39-year-old then detailed an awkward encounter he had with Beckham while they were grabbing lunch. "When he walked into lunch, he put his hand out to shake hands," Broad explained.
"And he's had some surgery, big sort of plaster cast or something on his hand, and it was a bit awkward.
"I was sort of like, 'How firm a handshake do I go here? So I ended up sort of just doing like a bit of a tappy handshake with him, which was a little bit awkward. But no, it was a lovely day."
Beckham brought his mother, Sandra, to the All England Club in what he described on Instagram as a yearly "tradition."
The previous day he was spotted for the first time in public with a cast after a recent X-ray showed that a screw had embedded in his forearm. The implement was used to correct an initial issue, which came after breaking his wrist in an England match in 2003 against South Africa.
Beckham was reportedly in pain for a number of years but in recent months described it as "unbearable", prompting the surgery, which is said to have been a success.
