The husband of has spoken out for the first time following the star's tragic death in a shooting that has rocked the entertainment world. Joss, best known for voicing John Redcorn on King of the Hill and playing Chief Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation, was killed on Sunday night (June 1) in San Antonio, Texas, after being gunned down outside the burned remains of his home. Now, his husband Tristan Kern de Gonzales has posted a harrowing statement detailing what happened during the final moments of Joss's life-and accusing a long-time neighbour of homophobic abuse and murder.
Joss was shot on his own property, according to police and confirmed by his partner, who said the couple had gone to the site to retrieve mail, including a check linked to the previous fire that destroyed their home. Gonzales said while he and Joss were at the scene, they stumbled upon the skull of one of their dogs that died in the blaze. Overwhelmed with emotion, he said they "began yelling and crying".

That's when, according to Gonzales, a man "yelling violent homophobic slurs at us" approached, "raised a gun from his lap and fired".
Gonzales said neither he nor Joss were armed, and added that Joss pushed him out of the way of the gunfire, saving his life at the expense of himself.
Posting from Joss's official Facebook account on Monday, Gonzales wrote: "He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other." He said he was at Jonathan's side when he died.
The actor's death followed what Gonzales claims was years of escalating harassment. He alleged that the couple had faced "openly homophobic" abuse in their neighbourhood, and revealed that they had received threats that their house would be set on fire.
"That home was burned down after two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire," he wrote.

"We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times and nothing was done."
Earlier reports stated the fire may have started when Joss used a BBQ pit to heat the home, after the city allegedly shut off their power and declared the house uninhabitable. But Gonzales's statement has cast new doubt over that theory, suggesting foul play could have been involved.
Gonzales also revealed that he and Jonathan were newly married. "We picked Valentine's Day. We were in the process of looking for a trailer and planning our future," he said.
Police arrested 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja in connection with the shooting. He has been charged with murder and is currently being held on a $200,000 bond as the investigation continues.
