'Gripping' Apple TV+ thriller from the writer of Slow Horses gets intriguing first look

Apple TV+ has just teased an exciting glimpse into a new thriller that boasts a stellar cast and crew.

The series, hailing from the pen of Mick Herron, the acclaimed author behind the successful Slow Horses saga, promises to deliver another gripping tale on Apple TV+.

Slated for release later in the year, Down Cemetery Road brings together two titans of British cinema for an eight-part journey through mystery and suspense.

Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson are set to captivate audiences this autumn as they lead the charge in the upcoming show.

Scripted by Morwenna Banks, who has previously contributed to Slow Horses and the Sky drama Funny Woman, the thriller is sure to be a hit, reports the Mirror.

Down Cemetery Road offers a tantalising plot: "When a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb and a girl disappears in the aftermath, neighbour Sarah Tucker (Wilson) becomes obsessed with finding her and enlists the help of private investigator Zoe Boehm (Thompson).

"Zoe and Sarah suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead."

This fresh narrative diverges sharply from Slow Horses, where Gary Oldman's gruff Jackson Lamb leads a group of MI5 outcasts through perilous escapades.

Yet, it's certain to thrill fans of Apple TV+'s beloved thriller as another one of Herron's compelling novels is adapted for the screen.

The initial images from the drama showcase the pair immersed in action on a beach, along with individual snaps of Zoe and Sarah.

Wilson's character, Sarah, seems to be an artist of sorts, donned in a blue jumpsuit and a headlamp, while Thompson sports a chic new look with cropped hair and a leather jacket.

Joining them in the main cast are several recognisable faces from British television, including Adeel Akhtar from Sherwood, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett of Utopia, Baby Reindeer's Tom Goodman-Hill, and Darren Boyd from Outlaws.

Supporting roles will be played by Tom Riley, Adam Godley, Sinead Matthews, Ken Nwosu, Fehinti Balogun, Aiysha Hart, and Steven Cree from Outlander.

Fans won't have to wait much longer as the new drama is set to debut its first two episodes in October.

Further plot details and a trailer remain confidential for now, but keep an eye out for updates.

Down Cemetery Road premieres Wednesday, 29th October on Apple TV+.
