GBBO star shares best Easter baking tips - and one item is essential for hot cross buns

Season 10 finalist Alice Fevronia has shared her expert insights on , including how to create indulgent and . She emphasised that the upcoming long weekend is the "perfect time" to get creative in the kitchen and try recipes you might not usually attempt.

Alice noted that Easter is a particularly special time for bakers, as their creations are only enjoyed for a "few days" each year, making them a wonderful way to "spread happiness." She revealed that preparations for Easter delicacies should begin "well before" the holidays, as she always takes time to make a festive cake in advance.

Alice's first advice to aspiring bakers is to invest in the right equipment. The star shared that she uses the almost daily and will put it "through its paces" during Easter.

She revealed to: "I'm quite the perfectionist regarding decorative cakes, but I think it's important to introduce Easter baking traditions to children. One of my earliest childhood baking memories (I still have the photo) is making Easter nests out of biscuit dough, which was then baked and filled with chocolate eggs.

"There are so many easy bakes to do with just a few ingredients. You can add crushed chocolate eggs to almost any bake in place of chocolate chips for an easy Easter twist."

For the perfect , Alice recommends switching up the recipe by adding orange zest to the mixture or substituting raisins for chocolate.

She revealed: "Hot cross buns are a real favourite of mine. They're great for sharing, and I often eat them for breakfast. They're definitely a big part of my Easter baking traditions."

Another one of her favourite Easter recipes is , which always prove to be a massive hit with those with an extra sweet tooth. Her top tip for making them gooey is to ensure all ingredients are at room temperature before baking.

If you are short on time, Alice suggests creating a "fake bake" This is where you buy a pre-made cake and then customise it with your choice of decorations; adding mini Easter eggs on top of a store-bought cake is a sure way to delight the entire family.
