Meghan Markle celebrated her birthday in a special way, and royal fans were delighted that she donned a recycled £4,000 dress from four years ago. The Duchess of Sussex stayed silent on her birthday this past Monday, August 4.
But she made a belated birthday post late Tuesday night, saying that she was "blowing out the candles on a beautiful 24 hours". She also thanked her husband, friends and family for "making it so special".
Meghan said in her post: "Blowing out the candles on a beautiful 24 hours, and thanking my husband, friends and family for making it so special. To those of you I don't know, but who send love every day - thank you so much. Please know I feel it and appreciate it. And just to get a little foodie on you... this dinner last night at @funke_la with the culinary mastery of @evanfunke and his team is in the top five meals of my life. Extraordinary. Thank you for a standout dining experience."
Meghan shared a new picture of herself blowing two candles on top of a stunning birthday cake featuring yellow flowers.
While only parts of her dress were visible, internet sleuths were able to ID it as the floral embellished mini shift dress by Valentino (£4,000) she has previously worn. The dress is not available to purchase online any more.
Meghan first wore it in 2021, during the Global Citizen Live event in New York City that she attended with Prince Harry.
Fans praised the Duchess for her sartorial choice and took to social media to share their views.
One user wrote on Instagram: "I remember when she first wore that dress. It is exquisite. Gosh her fashion sense is second to none!"
Another one said: "I am obsessed with that dress!! It lives in my head rent free since the first time I saw her in it."

A third one commented: "Love this dress and love that she was celebrated by her family and friends."
A fourth one chimed in: "I LOVE that dress, and she looked stunning in it when she wore it last!"
A fifth one added: "Gorgeous @meghan she has a true sense of style."
Tuesday also saw the launch of Meghan's new wine on her As Ever website.
The Duchess released her As Ever Napa Valley Rose 2024 - described as evoking the same "soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish" as the 2023 rose - on Tuesday.
It comes after the previous rose, launched last month, sold out within an hour. Her new wine is still available to purchase nearly one day after its release.
