This year's Celebrity Race Across the World cast features broadcaster Anita Rani and her dad, Bal, Derry Girls star Dylan Llewellyn and his mum, Jackie, DJ Tyler West and his partner, actress Molly Rainford, and broadcaster Roman Kemp and his sister, singer-songwriter Harleymoon.

The scenery is stunning for this year's show, with the race starting in Isla Mujeres, just off the easternmost point of Mexico and ending in the Península de La Guajira in Colombia - the gateway to South America. The opening episode has been very eventful, with Tyler and Molly chomping down on spicy Mexican chillies and Dylan and Jackie trying to sleep in a hospital for the night after a breakdown in communication with a hostel worker.

Fans have been very vocal on X, formerly known as Twitter, as they lodged the same issue just minutes into the programme.

One wrote: "Personally, the term celebrity is being stretched a bit here. If you didn't know it was called 'celebrity race across the world,' then you wouldn't know."

A second added: "Celebrity Race Around the World. I've heard of two of them."

"Am I the only one who's not particularly enjoying #CelebrityRaceAcrossTheWorld so far?" Another asked.

Someone else noted: "I really like #raceacrosstheworld and normally avoid anything with the word 'celebrity' in it, but thought I'd sneak a peek at #celebrityraceacrosstheworld - who are they? I do recognise the Kemp lad as I used to like his Dad's music!"

Despite the backlash, other fans were loving the casting, with someone sharing: "Dylan and Jackie are already my favourite contestants, they're so normal." Another replied: "I like Dylan & Jackie too, but I also love Anita & her amazing Dad."

When Dylan, 33, was asked why he signed up to the show, he told the BBC: "I'd always wanted to do an amazing adventure with a family member, and I'm a bit of a mummy's boy..."

His mum Jackie added: "I was terrified, but I thought I should push myself. It was also a fantastic chance to spend time with Dylan now that he's all grown up."

Celebrity Race Across the World continues next Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.
