Seven officers have been rushed to the hospital after a on the A1 near Newcastle. Five police cars and one civilian car were involved in the incident. Northumbria Police told the : "An investigation is under way after police officers were involved in a collision during a pursuit."
The force added that seven officers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. "Four have been discharged, two remain for observation, and one is receiving treatment for a leg injury. Two occupants of the BMW were uninjured," police added. A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, while a woman, also aged in her 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting dangerous driving. The A1 is now open in both directions.
