Increasing pollution may be stopped soon, know how

If you are driving a BS-3 petrol or BS-4 diesel car in Delhi, then you need to give them up now. The Transport Department has announced that it is going to ban these cars soon. As soon as the rules of Grap-3 come into force, these four wheelers will be banned.

Fines and vehicle number

If any BS-3 or BS-4 vehicle is found running on the road, the vehicle owner will have to pay a fine of Rs 20,000. Currently, 2 lakh 7 thousand 38 petrol vehicles and 3 lakh 9 thousand 225 diesel BS-4 vehicles are running in Delhi. This number is worrying and this step has been taken in view of air pollution.

Preparation of Transport Department

To reduce the rising level of air pollution, the Transport Department has formed 114 teams. These teams will take action against vehicles spreading pollution. Meanwhile, the National Air Quality Commission has also directed to promote electric and CNG vehicles in Delhi and NCR. The important thing is that this ban will not affect vehicles used for emergency services and vehicles engaged in government work.

What is Bharat Stage (BS)?

Bharat Stage was introduced to control air pollution. It was brought by the Ministry of Forest and Environment and the Ministry of Climate Change. Bharat Stage emission standards are based on European standards. The implementation of these standards has reduced the amount of sulfur content, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons and particulate matter in the fuel.

Importance of Pollution Standard

The pollution emitted by a BS-4 standard petrol engine includes 1.0 g/km of carbon monoxide, 0.18 g/km of hydrocarbons and 0.025 g/km of respirable suspended particulate matter. These standards tell how much pollution is being caused by vehicles. Through these standards, the government finds out how much harm is being caused by the smoke emitted from the engine.

What to do?

If you have a BS-3 or BS-4 car, it would be better if you consider leaving it and buying a car of new standards. Moving towards electric or CNG vehicles can be a good option. Even your small effort can help a lot in reducing pollution.
