Bollywood's famous actress Leena Chandavarkar once ruled the hearts of the audience with her beauty and acting. She entered the industry with Vinod Khanna and soon became one of the top actresses of the 70s. Leena's personal life has been as interesting and full of struggle as her success story in films.
Debut and early journey in films
Leena Chandavarkar entered films at the age of just 18. She started her career with the film 'Mann Ka Meet' directed by Sunil Dutt. In this film, she was paired with Vinod Khanna and the film proved to be a hit. After this, Leena made her mark in Bollywood and became a part of many big films.
Marriage and tragedy
Leena married Siddharth Bandodkar at the age of 25, who belonged to a big political family. Her father-in-law Dayanand Bandodkar was the first Chief Minister of Goa. However, a tragedy occurred in Leena's life just a few days after the marriage. Siddharth met with an accident one day while cleaning the gun. He got shot, after which he was immediately taken to the hospital, but even after 11 months of treatment, he could not be saved. Leena became a widow at the age of just 25.
Marriage to Kishore Kumar
After Siddharth's death, Leena decided to marry famous singer Kishore Kumar. However, at first her father was against this relationship because Kishore Kumar had already married three times and was 20 years older than Leena. But later Leena's father approved this relationship. Leena and Kishore Kumar have a son named Sumeet Kumar.
Film career and later life
Leena gave many hit films in her film career, but her acting with Rajesh Khanna in 'Mehboob Ki Mehndi' was highly appreciated. After films, Leena now appears in reality shows. In the year 2007, she appeared in a TV singing show called 'K for Kishore', which was dedicated to her husband Kishore Kumar. Apart from this, Leena has also written some songs for the albums of Amit Kumar and Rajesh Bambal.
