Several Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers were detained on Monday, 28 April, after they staged a protest near the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi against the recent .

"The terrorists killed innocent and unarmed people. They must be dealt with strict action. Every Youth Congress member and every single Indian want justice for the victims. A strong response should be given to terrorism," a protestor told PTI Videos.

Scores of party workers and supporters, including Indian Youth Congress national president Uday Bhanu Chib and national media in-charge Varun Pandey, took out a march from Teen Murti Chowk to the Pakistan High Commission, raising slogans and holding placards.

The protestors recited patriotic poems like 'Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil main hai' (The desire for sacrifice or revolution is in our hearts).

Despite heavy police and paramilitary deployment to prevent them from reaching the Pakistan High Commission, the protesters crossed multiple barricades and gathered near the premises, where they were eventually detained.

Meanwhile, the IYC issued a statement saying the organisation protested outside the Pakistan High Commission under the leadership of national president Uday Bhanu Chib.

Speaking at the protest, Chib described Pahalgam attack as a terrible crime aimed at spreading hatred and terror in the society.

"India is a country of love and brotherhood. There is no place for hatred or terrorism," the statement quoted Chib as saying.

The IYC president criticised the Central government, stating that five days after the attack, no concrete action has been taken against Pakistan.

He also highlighted the case of BSF soldier PK Singh, who mistakenly crossed the border on 23 April and has not yet been released by Pakistan. Expressing concern for Singh's family, Chib urged the government to act swiftly and bring him back safely.

Chib said that attacks on innocent civilians continue only because terrorist groups receive open support from the Pakistani establishment.

"Today the whole country is shocked and we demand a befitting reply to this attack. Now there should be direct and strict action against terrorism, not diplomacy," Chib added in the statement.
