Drivers have reported eerie sightings of a young woman on a UK road, who mysteriously "vanishes" once they've given her a lift. Blue Bell Hill in Kent is rumoured to be haunted by the image of a woman trying to make her way home.
Dubbed "the ghost of Blue Bell Hill", there are tales of drivers stopping to offer this young lady a ride, only for her to vanish from the back seat, or reappear in the road. Meanwhile, the Stocksbridge Bypass in South Yorkshire is said to be one of the most haunted roads in the country.
The A616 near Sheffield is notorious for its phantom sightings. This road is believed to be built close to or directly on an ancient monastery, with numerous reports of a medieval monk wandering about.

As Halloween looms, new research by global car hire comparison site DiscoverCars.com highlights some of Europe's most haunted roads, and the B3212 road in Dartmoor, Devon, is another spooky stretch to make the list. Known as "Hairy Hands", the study found that for over a hundred years, there have been accounts of a spectral pair of hairy hands seizing the steering wheel, seemingly trying to veer the driver off the road.
It seems many locals know someone who's had a scare on this road. In Scotland, the Kinmount Straight in Dumfries and Galloway is said to be a haunted section of the A75, with some reporting sightings of apparitions at the roadside, according to the research.
DiscoverCars.com said that lorry drivers are well acquainted with this eerie stretch of road, often attributing the strange and unusual experiences to driving fatigue from long hauls.
Aleksandrs Buraks of DiscoverCars.com, said: "As Halloween approaches, now is the perfect time to learn more about Europe's most haunted roads! If you find yourself driving down one of these spooky roads, make sure to drive slowly and carefully.
"Knowing that you're in an allegedly haunted place might be distracting, so it's important to pay attention to your surroundings and drive safely. Even more so if you are driving at night, when there's reduced visibility."
