Strictly Come Dancing fans all say the same thing as second celebrity is voted off

Send Push

Scottish broadcaster Ross King, best known for his live reports from Hollywood for ITV shows such as Lorraine and Good Morning Britain, has been voted off Strictly, weeks after he became the second-lowest-scoring contestant in Strictly Come Dancing ’s history.

Ross was paired with professional dancer Jowita Przystał and many fans of the show took to social media to share how 'proud' they were of him. The ITV legend was the second person to be voted off after Thomas Skinner, who danced with pro Amy Dowden, was voted off last week.

Fans took to X, formally known as Twitter, to share their thoughts as one person wrote: "Kudos to Ross. Went in there with zero dance experience. Worked hard and clearly enjoyed every minute of it. He should he proud of himself. But the right decision nonetheless", while another added: "Ross, from where you started your Paso this week, it’s clear you went out on a high and can be so proud of what you achieved over these past few weeks. And Jowita, you have been brilliant with Ross and deserve your flowers. Much love xx".

A third added: "Congratulations, Ross. I think dancing 3 weeks means so much to you, and you should feel proud of your Strictly journey", while a fourth said: "Awww welll done #rossking he really came on a journey considering he couldn’t trance a step!".

After it was announced he was leaving, Ross sweetly said: "I could not have wished for a better partner, and I could not have wished to be on a better show".

Ross has been having a ball on Strictly, but recently admitted he almost backed out of his dance after receiving a record-low score. Speaking exclusively to the Mirror prior to being voted off, Ross revealed: "At least I can say I got a 10 on Strictly Come Dancing in my first week," with a laugh.

On his first live performance, the judges marked him the lowest since Quentin Wilson took to the floor back in 2004 and scored eight. However, while he told us he "got through it" he found the routine so difficult he didn't know if he'd get through it.

Ross first performed the Cha Cha with partner Jowita and was awarded two points each from Craig Revel Horwood and Shirley Ballas, while Motsi Mabuse and Anton du Beke gave him a not-much-better three.

Ross admitted: "At one point I thought I may have to put my hands up and just say 'maybe this is not for me'.

"I was disappointed because I had done it better. And I think the slide was a little bit slippier than I realised. As we were dancing, Jowita was actually going, 'Are you OK?'" Ross was extremely happy to get to the end. "But I did genuinely have fun. For me, it's a TV show, it’s not a competition."

Ross has spoken very highly of his pro dance partner and said he finds her encouraging. He said: “She’s one of the nicest people you could meet. Sometimes we laugh more than we dance and sometimes we just laugh at me dancing,” he reveals. “But she's so patient, so kind. She's not once said a harsh word to me, or anything at all like that. With all these things, it’s about building up confidence. I completely lucked out when I got Jowita."
