Kate Middleton has always stunned with her fashion choices and it’s now being claimed that one of her recent looks was purely “strategic”. Earlier this week, the 43-year-old stepped out with First Lady Melania Trump as part of Donald Trump’s second state visit to the United Kingdom.
This historical moment on Thursday (September 18) marked the first time the women made their first outing together away from their spouses as they visited Frogmore Gardens.
The two met UK chief scout Dwayne Fields as well members of the Scouts’ Squirrels Program. This was a poignant moment for the Princess of Wales as she was a former scout herself and has been co-president of the Scout Association since 2020.

She stunned in a suede jacket and knitted top combo, which she paired with a long brown skirt. She complimented her look with a patterned neck scarf and brought the whole look together with a pair of brown suede boots.
Now it’s being claimed that Kate’s fashion choice was “strategic” by fans, one account on X penned: “Kate’s outfit for the Scout engagement with Melania might look simple… but look closer and you’ll see how strategic it really was.
“For the relaxed, outdoor setting, the Princess chose earthy tones of mossy green and rugged brown – chic, practical and autumnal. But did you notice that the look does something clever in photos? It holds it’s own against the Scouts’ red uniforms and the bright colours of the parachute – without ever overpowering them. Clever.
“Was that by accident? Probably not. Kate’s wardrobe is famously meticulous. Every high-profile visit is planned down to the last detail.
“It’s even reported that “recce” teams are sent overseas before royal tours to research locations, traditions and colour symbolism – ensuring Kate’s outfit’s always strike the right note.
“And then there’s the fashion diplomacy. The look blended pieces from both British and American designers – a subtle nod to the UK-US connection during the shared engagement.”
The account went on to state that Kate has used this approach before and that the jacket and scarf combo was giving “Scout leader”, echoing the formal uniform but with a touch of style.
Fans flocked to the comments section to share their own observations of the outfit as one person said: “It was the perfect attire for the occasion. I love everything about it, the colours, the scarf.”
Another X user wrote: “It’s a fabulous enchanting autumn look. Most of us couldn’t do it. Needs that really small waist under the straight down jacket.”
While a third gushed: “I love everything about her outfit, it is perfect! That scarf is gorgeous and that jacket, I want also with that skirt, well the entire outfit please!”
The US president and the First Lady spent two days in the UK, being wined and dined at Windsor Castle, at a dinner hosted by King Charles and the Royal Family.
As well as this, he also attended a state banquet on Wednesday (September 17) before engaging in political talks with Keir Starmer on Thursday (September 18). The husband and wife flew back home on Friday.
