Coronation Street star reveals real reason she quit soap as final scenes air

Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy Midgeley on , has addressed her real reasons for quitting the soap.

Daisy bowed out in dramatic scenes on Friday night as her time in Weatherfield came to an end. Actress Charlotte quit the show a year ago, bowing out after almost five years.

Now as the character bids farewell, leaving destruction behind her, the actress playing Daisy as addressed her departure. The fan favourite revealed her real reason for deciding to call it a day, as she also revealed whether she might be back in the future.

Charlotte explained what led to her decision to move on from the show, revealing what soap boss Kate Brooks had to say about her choice. She explained: "I’m feeling really grateful for my years on the show and the people I’ve gotten to work with.

"Kate [Brooks] has been so supportive about me wanting to go back out into the audition circuit and very generous with Daisy’s exit story, as she really wanted to do the character justice. And I can’t tell you how much fun the other cast members and I had playing out this last hurrah."

But after revealing the door had been left open for her with bosses desperate to have her back at any point, Charlotte teased whether this would be something she would be up for. She hinted she could be back, suggesting it wasn't a "forever" farewell.

She said: "It’s a very special building, and I have loved it. And it’s just goodbye for now, not goodbye forever." Charlotte also talked about her final day on set and filming her last ever scenes.

While she's "not a crier" she confessed that she was left "medically dehydrated" by the time she'd wrapped up as she felt all of the emotions both when filming and not filming. She spilled: "I’m not a big crier. But let me tell you, I cried on and off for about four hours straight.

"My last scene was with the beautiful , and we were meant to cry in the scene – but we were both dry as a bone. As soon as they yelled our final 'cut,' we both burst into tears. Typical.

"The Corrie gang made it so special for me. The canteen made me my favourite lunch – which made me cry. The art department drew me a beautiful card – which made me cry.

"I would look over to Channique [Sterling-Brown] or Julia [Goulding] or Sal [] during our last lunch break and see them crying – which made me cry. I think I was medically dehydrated by the end of the day."

Daisy's exit came just as she was taking revenge on stepmother Jenny Connor, Sally's character, over some money she had gained from shares given to her by Daisy's dad. She kept the £60k windfall from Daisy at a time that they were both in debt to Carla Connor, sparking a revenge plan.
