Arne Slot has opened the door on the possibility of a new contract by admitting that he now understands why decided to stay at Anfield for almost nine years.
The Reds boss is closing in on the title in his first season after succeeding the German - and captain Virgil van Dijk is now expected to give the Merseysiders another massive boost .
Slot signed a three-year contract when he arrived from Feyenoord last summer - and is reluctant to talk about his own circumstances. But the Dutchman insists that his affection for the club now goes beyond football.
Slot said: “It isn’t only the results. The people who work here and the fans we have are, I think, what makes this club so special.

"I know the outside is looking at all the goals or the wins we make. But I think that to enjoy your life on a daily basis, you need to be happy from when you drive in.
“That’s one of the reasons people like to be here. It’s why Jurgen stayed so long - and why Mo wants to stay here two more years despite being here for so long already. It’s why, in general, players, managers, people work so long at this club. There’s a great culture and a lot of nice people working here.
"From the start, I felt really welcome and really happy here in the way I can work at this club with the staff, with the players, with the facilities. It always helps if results are positive as well. That’s the X-Factor you need.”
Slot is closing in on becoming just the fourth manager to win the Premier League in his first season with a club, following on from Chelsea's and in 2005 and 2017 respectively, Manchester City's Manuel Pellegrini in 2014 and Leicester's Claudio Ranieri in 2016.
