Punjab Police has registered an FIR against popular rapper Badshah after a complaint was filed alleging that his latest song Velvet Flow contains objectionable references to Christianity. The case was filed in Batala city, located in Punjab's Gurdaspur district, and it has sparked public outrage, including a protest.

According to police officials, the FIR was registered on Tuesday (April 29) at the Qila Lal Singh police station after a formal complaint by Emanual Masih, a representative of the Global Christian Action Committee.

In his complaint, Masih alleged that Badshah's song includes the use of the words 'church' and 'Bible' in a context that has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Christian community.

The song has been sung by Badshah and he has also penned the lyrics. The music of Velvet Flow has been produced by Hiten. The video of the song shows Badshah travelling, at the airport, and working out in the gym.

According to a report in PTI, Station House Officer (SHO) Gurvinder Singh confirmed that the case has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses the issue of hurting religious sentiments.

A protest was held on Tuesday in Batala, where members of the Christian community gathered to demand accountability from the artist. Protestors accused Badshah of disrespecting a faith and its sacred symbols for commercial gains and demanded action against him.

As of now, Badshah has not responded to the allegations or the registration of the FIR.

Meanwhile, in another news, Badshah recently took the internet by storm after sharing a video in which he appeared almost unrecognisable due to his remarkable weight loss and physical transformation. The Genda Phool hitmaker, known for his larger-than-life persona, surprised fans with his new, leaner look.

On the work front, Badshah is known for superhit songs like Genda Phool, Garmi, Jugnu, DJ Wale Babu, Paani Paani, and Kar Gayi Chul among several others. He has also acted in Sonakshi Sinha's film Khandaani Shafakhana.
