Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt made a glamorous debut at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in the French Riviera, arriving on the red carpet in a soft nude off-shoulder sculpted gown by Schiaparelli. The gown featured a sweetheart neckline and a cinched corset, flared into a layered tulle train for added drama. The 32-year-old actress attended The Mastermind at the Palais des Festivals on May 23.
Soon, visuals of Alia's oh-so-stunning look went viral on social media. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that the actress had added a traditional touch to her debut by placing a 'kaala teeka' (black mark) just behind her left ear to ward off the evil eye and bring good luck. For those unversed, a kaala teeka is a small mark made with kajal (kohl), traditionally applied on special occasions. This practice is common in India and is believed to ward off the evil eye.

However, this is not the first time the actress was spotted sporting a kaala teeka. Earlier in 2024, during her second Met Gala appearance in a Sabyasachi saree, she had worn a kaala teeka as well.

For accessories, Bhatt kept it simple with pearl and diamond studs, paired with a large pear-shaped diamond ring.
