5 Tips For Safe Fasting: Ganesh Chaturthi is not just a festival; it is a confluence of devotion, enthusiasm, and faith. Every year on the Chaturthi of the Bhadrapada month, people welcome Lord Ganesha, install idols in their homes, and fill the entire atmosphere with spiritual energy through worship. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated on 27 August. In such a situation, many devotees also fast so that they can get the blessings of Lord Ganesha. But the question is, are we taking care of our bodies while fasting? Are we ensuring that, along with worship, our health also remains balanced? According to doctors, by adopting some simple precautions while fasting, not only can hunger be controlled, but one can also remain full of energy throughout the day.

Dr. Rakesh Pandit told Hindustan Times five such easy and effective tips, which can make your fasting safe and comfortable. Let us know what they are.
1. Use water and coconut water properly
The most important thing in fasting is that there should be no shortage of water in the body. Keep drinking small amounts of water throughout the day. If the weather is hot or you sweat a lot, coconut water can be of great help. It keeps the body refreshed and also provides essential minerals, which prevent problems like fatigue and headache.
2. Eat bananas, tapioca, and dry fruits
Staying hungry for a long time can lead to weakness. So eat food that is easily digested but gives plenty of energy. Such as banana, sweet potato, tapioca khichdi, or kheer. These foods give the body the strength to work for a long time. Small amounts of dry fruits in between are also beneficial.
3. Consume good fats i.e., ghee and seeds
Many people just eat fruits during fasting, but if you include things like ghee, flaxseed, or chia seeds in small quantities, then it gives energy to the body for a long time. One spoon of desi ghee or a handful of walnuts, almonds, or peanuts can prove to be very beneficial for you.
4. If the body is getting tired, give yourself rest
If you are fasting, it is important to listen to your body. Do not work too hard. If you feel tired, sit for a while, close your eyes, and take deep breaths. Sleep for 7-8 hours every day so that the body remains completely refreshed.
5. Light yoga or walking slowly is beneficial
During fasting, doing heavy exercises can tire the body quickly. Instead, adopt some light yoga or breathing techniques. This keeps the mind calm and also improves blood circulation in the body.

There is nothing wrong with breaking the fast when needed
Dr. Pandit says that if you feel weakness in the body, feel dizzy or your health starts deteriorating, then the fast should be broken immediately. The purpose of fasting is faith, not to give pain to the body. Everyone's tolerance is different, so it is important to give priority to your health.
