Headlined by Hrithik Roshan and marking Jr NTR’s Bollywood debut, the upcoming installment in Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe has become the talk of the industry — not only for its scale, but also for the unprecedented remuneration involved.

According to a Bollywood Hungama report, Hrithik Roshan has signed a high-value agreement with YRF that includes a Rs 50 crore upfront payment along with a backend profit-sharing deal.
Roshan reprises his role as Major Kabir Dhaliwal from the 2019 blockbuster War, and his continued collaboration with producer Aditya Chopra through this profit-sharing setup further strengthens his position in YRF’s expanding Spy Universe.
Jr NTR’s Bollywood Debut Paycheck
South Indian star Jr NTR, who makes his Hindi film debut with War 2, has reportedly been paid a massive Rs 70 crore, as per the same Bollywood Hungama report. This figure marks the highest ever fee for an actor debuting in Bollywood, signaling both his pan-India appeal and the production’s ambition to capture audiences across regional markets.
Despite Jr NTR’s impressive fan base, trade analysts believe Hrithik Roshan continues to hold dominant appeal in the Hindi belt and southern markets, thanks to his legacy roles, especially the Krrish franchise.
Supporting Cast Salaries Also Significant
According to Bollywood Hungama, the film’s lead actress, Kiara Advani, is said to have received Rs 15 crore for her role as Kavya Luthra, while veteran actor Anil Kapoor, who plays a pivotal part, has been paid Rs 10 crore. Although Kapoor doesn’t appear in the trailer, his presence adds weight to the star-studded cast. Director Ayan Mukerji, known for helming films like Brahmastra, has reportedly been paid Rs 30 crore.
With a reported production cost of Rs 400 crore (excluding marketing), War 2 has become YRF’s most expensive film to date — surpassing previous high-budget entries like Tiger 3 and Pathaan. The acting salaries alone account for around Rs 150 crore of the budget, according to the salaries mentioned in the report.
The film’s trailer, which dropped on July 25, 2025, received mixed feedback but has generated considerable buzz ahead of its August 14 release. As part of the Spy Universe, the movie will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, with plans for a wide IMAX rollout.
