The tragic murder of Indian tennis player Radhika Yadav has taken a new turn. A postmortem report has revealed that four bullets were fired into her chest, contradicting the FIR, which claimed she was shot three times from behind by her father, Deepak Yadav.
Dr Deepak Mathur, who was part of the team that conducted the postmortem, told ANI, "The postmortem of the deceased tennis player is complete. Four bullets were removed from Radhika Yadav’s body."
Deepak Yadav, who has confessed to the killing, reportedly said he was upset over his daughter’s behaviour. He claimed he felt humiliated by “taunts” about depending on her income. However, Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Singh told PTI that the main cause of the conflict was the tennis academy run by Radhika. He said Deepak had asked her to shut it down, but she refused.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Yashwant Yadav told media that this disagreement eventually led to the shooting.
The FIR also states that Deepak had been depressed for over two weeks and could no longer bear the social pressure and criticism, which allegedly pushed him over the edge.
While the tennis academy dispute is seen as the main motive, police are exploring other possible reasons. These include Deepak’s possible objections to Radhika’s personal relationships or the videos she posted on Instagram. Police are reviewing her mobile phone and social media accounts as part of the investigation.
An FIR has been registered at Sector 56 police station, and the investigation is ongoing.
