The news of her death was made public by her friend, dancer, and actress Kalpana Iyer. Her last post on Facebook reads, “Feeling weird. Mixed emotions and no clue why, discombobulated."

Who Was Helena Luke?

Helena Luke was an Indo-American actress who gained recognition in Bollywood during the 1980s, featuring in films like ' Mard' and 'Do Gulab'. She was briefly married to Mithun Chakraborty, becoming his first wife, though their marriage ended after only four months in 1979. Later, Helena relocated to the United States, where she eventually settled and pursued a career in the airline industry.

Her marriage to the ‘ Disco Dancer’ star lasted only four months. In an interview with Star Dust, the actress described her short-lived marriage to the actor as a “hazy dream.” She claimed that the actor often accused her of cheating on him while having affairs on the sly behind her back.

“I only wish it hadn’t happened; he was the one who brainwashed me into believing that he was the man for me; unfortunately, he succeeded,” she told the magazine. She also denied all rumours of a possible reconciliation. “I’ll never go back to him, even if he is the richest guy around. I haven’t even asked for alimony; it was a nightmare, and it’s over."

She also described the star as being self-absorbed and immature. “I really believed him when he told me that he loved me. But when I got to know him better, I realized that he loved no one but himself. He was extremely immature, and though I was years younger than him, I felt much older. He was very possessive and accused me of seeing my ex-boyfriend Javed on the sly. I used to go blue in the face trying to convince him that I didn’t, but couldn’t succeed in eradicating his deep-rooted suspicious nature. It was only later that I realized he had a guilt complex. He himself was fooling around my back and thought I was doing the same," she said.
