In a deeply unsettling development, actor Rohit Basfore, associated with the upcoming season of The Family Man, was found dead near Garbhanga Waterfalls, located on the outskirts of Guwahati, Assam. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, April 27, when Basfore had gone on a picnic with nine colleagues. Authorities say the actor allegedly slipped and fell into the waterfall around 2 pm. His body was recovered by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) around 6:30 pm, after police were informed and reached the spot by 4:30 pm.
According to India Today, reports claim accidental drowning, Rohit’s family has raised concerns over possible foul play. They claim he was taken to a remote area, that his phone was inexplicably switched off at noon, and that he didn’t know how to swim, casting doubts on the official version of events. A post-mortem examination is underway, and further investigation is ongoing.
This shocking incident comes not long after the death of another Family Man actor — the seasoned performer Asif Basra, who was found dead in November 2020 in a private guest house in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Basra, 53, was discovered hanging, and while suicide was suspected, the case remains under scrutiny.
Asif Basra was a veteran actor with a rich legacy in both Indian and international cinema. Originally from Amravati, he moved to Mumbai in 1989 and had a Physics degree. A respected theatre artist and corporate workshop facilitator, Basra was known for films like Black Friday, Kai Po Che, Jab We Met, and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. His international work included roles in Outsourced and One Night with the King alongside Omar Sharif and Peter O’Toole. His last Bollywood appearance was in The Tashkent Files (2019).
