BLACKPINK's 'Deadline' tour sparks disbandment buzz

Send Push

BLACKPINK has officially announced the title of their upcoming global tour, 'DEADLINE,' causing a rush of excitement and fear among fans. The news, announced on May 16 via their official social media sites, left BLINKs buzzing with excitement for the group's long-awaited return, while also raising questions about the tour's mysterious name.

Fans have longed to see Lisa, Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé together again, despite their busy individual careers in music, acting, and fashion. The DEADLINE tour will be celebrating BLACKPINK's long-awaited reunion, but its name has sparked suspicion about the group's future.

Disbandment on the horizon?

Alongside the tour dates, BLACKPINK also dropped a teaser video featuring all four members performing together, shared via their official X (formerly Twitter) account. The nostalgic clip reminded fans of the group's stage presence — but it also sparked a wave of speculation: Could this be BLACKPINK's final tour?

The concern isn't without reason. Despite being one of the most iconic K-pop groups, BLACKPINK has only released around 32 songs in their eight-year existence, which is much fewer than many of its competitors.

Adding to the concern is the fact that, while tour dates have been announced, there has been no news of the upcoming new album.

Now, with each member running their own label and cultivating individual fanbases, some BLINKs believe the name 'DEADLINE' might be a subtle hint at the group's potential disbandment.

Fans react

Social media platforms lit up with fan reactions. On X, several users questioned whether the tour title hinted at a possible disbandment. One said, "They couldn't make it more obvious that they’re disbanding. I can't breathe."

Another wrote, "Thought it was their comeback. Can y'all please release the date and everything for the comeback? We're tired of waiting. We love y’all, but please stop making us wait."

One user commented, "Do you know what else y'all have a deadline for? A COMEBACK."

Another added, "Calling it the Deadline tour because they’re about to hit their disbandment deadline."

One fan speculated, "GUYSSS what if 'Deadline' simply means time’s up for other groups trying to take their place? Like in HYLT lyrics: 'You should’ve ended me when you had the chance'... Now it’s the deadline. BLACKPINK is coming back again, showing the world how it’s done."

Another user criticized, "Three years for a comeback and they just copy and paste the same layout from Born Pink? They really set themselves up calling the group BLACKPINK — every concept has to be black and pink, and it gets boring."

Tour dates and venues

Despite the speculation, fans are still thrilled at the chance to see BLACKPINK live once more. The Deadline world tour kicks off in July 2025 and will span major cities across the globe:

Goyang – Goyang Stadium

Los Angeles – SoFi Stadium

Chicago – Soldier Field

Toronto – Rogers Centre

New York – Citi Field

Paris – Stade de France

Milan – Ippodromo Snai La Maura

Barcelona – Estadi Olímpic

London – Wembley Stadium

Tokyo – Tokyo Dome

Whether 'Deadline' signals a farewell or a fresh chapter, one thing's for sure — this tour is shaping up to be one of the most emotional and anticipated moments in BLACKPINK's legacy.
